Hundreds of schools offer free meals this summer

The Houston Independent School District will be serving free meals to Houston-area kids at more than 200 campuses beginning this week through mid-July.

The breakfast and lunch free meal program is open for all children ages 1 to 18. Children do not need to be enrolled in summer school or show proof of income to participate. Click here for a list of schools offering free meals, including their varying schedules.

All menu items are analyzed to make sure children receive the vitamins, minerals and calories needed to maintain a balanced diet. Last summer, nearly 1 million free meals were served.

Adults may purchase a breakfast for $2 or lunch for $3.25. For more information about the program, call 713-491-5944.
