The lobby of Spring Hill Suites by Marriott will be transformed into an art gallery from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 4, thanks to the creativity of 30 Crespo Elementary School students. The event will help raise public awareness of HISD’s outstanding magnet programs, and Crespo is honored to represent the fine arts programs in particular.

Spring Hill Suites by Marriott, located at 1400 Old Spanish Trail near NRG Stadium, is launching Save Art! in partnership with Crespo, an HISD Fine Arts magnet school. Recognizing that the study of the fine arts helps children grow into innovative, problem-solving, 21st-century learners, the Save Art! initiative provides under-resourced schools with much-needed classroom art supplies.

“This couldn’t come at a better time, as we are currently accepting applications for our fine-arts magnet program,” said Crespo Principal Auden Sarabia. “This exhibit is going to help highlight the wonderful work we do on a consistent basis with our students and help provide parents with yet one more option for a quality magnet program.”FullSizeRender

Crespo students, who range from Pre-K to fifth grade, are proud that their artwork has been selected. Many of the pieces have been on display at Crespo this year, but the opportunity to take them “on the road” has created enthusiasm and excitement for both art students and the school.

Every Crespo student is involved in the fine-arts program, which includes music, art, band, choir, dance, drama, and technology. Save Art! supports Crespo’s art program, providing additional funds to purchase supplies so that students can continue to create art for competition, display, and public appreciation.
