HISD Police Department urges safety during prom, graduation season

As thousands of students prepare for prom season and graduation, the Houston Independent School District Police Department is reminding both students and parents play it safe during the festivities.

“We want to encourage everyone throughout HISD to plan for safe and successful events,” said HISD Chief of Police Robert Mock. “This is a very important and exciting time for many families, and our goal is to help protect our community by making sure students are being mindful and making good decisions.”

According to Mock, HISD PD and other local law enforcement agencies throughout Houston will continually work together and assist each other to provide a safe environment.

Parents and guardians are advised to speak to their children about the safety risks and ground rules associated with celebrations. While parents want their child to have fun, it is important to exercise good judgment and obey the laws.

“We congratulate all of the HISD graduates on this momentous in their lives and wish them a memorable, happy, and safe prom and graduation season,” Mock said. “By working together, we can make this graduation season safe for our entire community.”
