Operations Managers Tammie Green and Pamela Guillory collected 62 submissions from the entire Nutrition Services department, which were presented to the administrative team to select winners.

“When we presented the submissions to our managers, they weren’t expecting this many,” Green said.

Senior Operations Manager Becky Campbell said there were many accomplishments from cafeterias throughout the year, so naming winners among the nominees was a tough assignment. Nutrition Services senior operations managers visited nominated schools to rank them in various categories.

“That was the tough part,” Campbell said. “The nominees were so good at what they do that sometimes the deciding factor was a single point.”

Nutrition Services team lead of the year winners were Cheri Hayes from Jack Yates High School, Rodrick Moore from M.C. Williams Middle School, and TaWanna Burton from Berry Elementary School.

The cafeterias of the year winners were Washington High School, Clifton Middle School, and Cage Elementary School.

HISD Board of Education Trustee Rhonda Skillern-Jones commended all cafeteria employees for their hard work and committed to serving HISD students every school day.

The winners and nominees enjoyed musical and dance performances by the Waltrip High School Jazz Band and all attendees were treated to a five-course banquet.
