Teacher Appreciation Week May 4–10

Whether they are explaining how to solve an algebraic equation or showing a student how to swing a baseball bat correctly, teachers give their all to Houston’s children more than 170 days out of every year.

HISD would like to extend its thanks to the more than 10,000 teachers who serve in its classrooms during Teacher Appreciation Week May 4–10, with special emphasis given to Tuesday, May 6, Teacher Appreciation Day.

  • May 17: Empty Bowls
  • May 26: Memorial Day (school in session)
  • May 29: Last day of school (students)

  • June 1: Hurricane season begins
  • June 2-Aug. 1: Summer schedule in effect
  • June X: Summer school starts
  • June 12: Regular Board meeting
