Two HISD educators honored with national, lifetime achievement awards

The month of May is awards season in the field of public education, and two of HISD’s brightest stars have been recognized this year for their incredible performance at the head of the classroom.

At the local level, Bellaire High School government and economics teacher Michael Clark was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award through H-E-B’s Excellence in Education program. Named HISD’s own Secondary Teacher of the Year in 2011, Clark has been teaching in HISD for almost a quarter of a century. You can find his story here.

At the national level, East Early College High School physics teacher Samuel Saenz was named the Teacher of the Year for 2015 by the National Southeastern Consortium of Minorities in Engineering (SECME). You can find his story here.
