Lovett ES and Oak Forest ES nominated for Blue Ribbon School designation

Lovett Elementary and Oak Forest Elementary were recently nominated for  the U.S. Department of Education’s prestigious national 2016 Blue Ribbon School designation. National Blue Ribbons are awarded annually to high-performing schools to validate the hard work of students and educators. Read the complete story here.

  •  HISD Superintendent of Schools Terry Grier, who was recognized by Mayor Sylvester Turner with a proclamation on Jan. 12 for his dedicated service to Houston’s children. Get the full story here.
  • Bell Elementary School, Brookline Elementary School, Fondren Middle School, and Tijerina Elementary School were recently recognized by the district’s Family and Community Engagement (FACE) Department for their successful implementation of the Family Friendly Schools program.   • Eight elementary schools – Janowski, Kennedy, Marshall, Browning, Tijerina, Anderson, Carillo, and Dogan – advanced to the fourth round (the ‘Elite 8’) of the NCAA Read to the Final Four Literacy Program. Find out more here.
