Bellaire HS coach inducted into Athletics Hall of Honor

Coach Granvil “Wayne” Tedder has been guiding HISD athletes to greatness for more than 30 years, but on Jan. 22, district officials and students took time out to honor him, with a special ceremony held at Bellaire High School to induct him into the HISD and Houston Coaches Association Hall of Honor.   • Cornelius ES fifth-grader Richard Espinoza-Garza, who won the 2016 20th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Oratory Competition, sponsored by Gardere Wynne Sewell LLP.  Get the full story here.
  • Scroggins ES students and librarian Jo-Anne Reed, who won a $1,500 grant from the Castro’s Kids literacy foundation. The school got a visit from Houston Astros catcher Jason Castro, his wife Maris, and book characters “Splat the Cat” and “Skippyjon Jones”. Read the story here.
