Thank an HISD Teacher Hero
Share photos, messages, and videos on social media using #HISDHero
As part of National Teacher Appreciation Week (May 2-6), HISD wants to acknowledge and thank the nearly 12,000 men and women who serve as teachers at the district’s 283 schools across our city. What our teachers do is truly remarkable. While they may not wear capes, they are superheroes who are changing the lives of children.
In honor of Teacher Appreciation Week, all members of Team HISD are encouraged to thank a teacher hero in their lives. Take a picture of your colleague or co-worker or take a picture of your child with his or her favorite HISD teacher and post on social media using the hashtags #HISDHero and #ThankATeacher. If your favorite teacher is not nearby, take a selfie holding a piece of paper with a simple message thanking them for making a difference in the lives of children.
Or better yet, surprise an HISD teacher using your camera cell phone and tell them why they are your teacher hero. Check out the video below and watch Westbury students give a surprise thank you to their teachers and even their principal.

HISD will be sharing the posts on its own social media channels, so be sure to follow us on Twitter (@HoustonISD) and like us at Facebook.com/HoustonISD.
Thanks to all the teachers for what they do.
I would like to honor and Thank Dr. Johnnie M. Carter, Fourth Grade teacher at DeAnda Elementary.
Dr. Carter has proudly served HISD for over 50 years and has always provided great wisdom to upcoming educators. She is a jewel that continuously shines!
Thank you Dr. Carter for all that you have not only done for me, but for the students! We love you!
Ms. Robinson
