IT Summer Checklist for Teachers
Teachers,
June 1 marks the end of another regular school year in HISD, but before you pack up the classroom and head off to your vacations, professional development opportunities, or other plans for the summer break, the Information Technology department wants you to “clean out your digital closets.”
Below is a checklist of things you can do to to ensure you have a smoother transition back into the workflow when you return for the 2018-2019 school year. Also included are some tips on how to access technology over the summer months from home.
HISD Connect
- For the 2018-2019 school year, Chancery and GradeSpeed will be replaced with HISD Connect. To learn more, click here.
- Register for HISD Connect training in OneSource.
- Teachers course numbers are listed here, please register in OneSource for the date and location that fits your schedule.

Before you leave for Summer break
- Register to change your password in HISD Access. This allows you to reset your password from anywhere over the break.
- Learn how to check your email from home.
- Create an “Out of Office” message for your district email account. Learn how here.
- Back up your files and folders from your computer to OneDrive. Click here for instructions.
- Do you want to back up your internet favorites? Follow the instructions here.
- Remove all USB’s, CD’s, and external hard drives from the computers
- Secure all classroom electronic equipment in accordance with your campus administration
- DO NOT unplug, turn off or move the Ricoh copiers
