World Autism Day
World Autism Awareness Day is internationally recognized on April 2 every year and is meant to raise awareness about people with Autism Spectrum Disorder and to educate the public about autism.
The entire month of April is World Autism Month, and people around the globe are encouraged to #LightItUpBlue to show support and understanding for those with autism. Learn more about how to Light It Up Blue here.
Autism is a complex mental condition and developmental disability, characterized by difficulties in the way a person communicates and interacts with other people. Autism can be present from birth or develop during early childhood (typically within the first three years). Autism is a lifelong developmental disability with no single known cause.
On Tuesday, April 2, I encourage you all to wear blue to show your support and raise awareness about autism. Let’s join in the commitment to advocating for all people with autism, and to ensure they have the necessary support to exercise their rights and fundamental freedoms.
