Want to help kids get off the couch and run for their health/fitness? Then volunteer with Marathon Kids at the 2013 Houston Marathon Kids Final Mile Celebration on April 13!

Enthusiastic volunteers are needed to help Houston-area kids (many of whom are HISD students) celebrate the end of their journey to complete a whole marathon (26.2 miles) over the course of one school year. Volunteers make the event fun by cheering children on as they run their final laps, handing out Finisher Medals, greeting participants, ushering, and setting up/breaking down. Groups are welcome and encouraged. Shifts are available as early as 6 a.m. and the event will be over by noon.

The celebration will take place at the University of Houston’s Tom Tellez Stadium (3100 Cullen Road). To sign up at You’ll be contacted with all the specifics (parking, what to wear, etc.) Questions? E-mail Volunteer Coordinators Kimberly and Lisa at or
