All district employees required to complete child abuse prevention training

2014 December 11
by HISD Communications

During the summer, the Texas Education Agency (TEA) updated and strengthened its training requirements regarding the identification and prevention of child abuse.

All non-campus-based employees are required to complete the updated course by May 31, 2015.

To help the district meet the TEA mandate, the training – which provides information about child abuse prevention, maltreatment and sexual abuse of children – is available through HISD’s eLEARN system. Most employees have been pre-enrolled in the course.

To begin the training, log into eLEARN, click “Select a Course,” and choose the “Child Abuse Prevention: Maltreatment, Sexual Abuse & Reporting” course title. If you do not see the course in your queue, you can use the “Self-Registration” link at the top of the page to enroll. The course code is LD0349_0014.

All teachers and principals have either completed the training or are in the process of completing it.

If you have any additional questions, email HISDeLearn@houstonisd.org.
