myHISD-logoUPDATE: With more than 57 percent of the vote, myHISD was the runaway winner of an employee poll to pick the name for the district’s new employee intranet site. Nearly 3,500 votes were cast, and myHISD received 1,975 votes. HISD Connect and HISD InSite finished second and third, respectively.

The Houston Independent School District is always striving to improve the employee experience, and part of that work includes the launch of phase one of myHISD, the district’s new employee intranet.

myHISD features streamlined navigation, important employee resources, news, quick links and a more robust search feature. In addition, when accessed through an HISD network, the new site requires users to sign in only once with the same username and password used to log onto their HISD computer, eliminating the need to remember multiple passwords. Employees who currently have VPN access from home will continue to have remote access by following the same steps used to access the previous portal.

All internal department content previously located on Vignette has been migrated to SharePoint collaboration sites that can be accessed via myHISD. Departments with internal content intended for HISD employees that is currently located on Schoolwires should move all content to a SharePoint collaboration site. For more information and assistance, contact the HISD Help Desk at 713-892-7378 or helpdesk@houstonisd.org.

In the coming months, the Office of Communications and Information Technology will be working on phase two of the myHISD redesign, which includes the addition of communication and collaboration tools and resources designed to make your job easier and more efficient. This is great, it was so challenging just to navigate to the proper site because of the require login requirement. Sometimes, too much security becomes a major hurdle and it stops you from getting your work completed. Great! You are attentive to our needs!!!!

I love the look of the new website, however the instructions for changing passwords do not appear to be compartible with the new configuration or it may be me and my inability to as yet naviagte the contours of this new site. Otherwise, I hail this as an excellent job.

I am an employee of hisd trying to view my paycheck. I am using my tablet and it keeps telling me my operating system is not recognized. What should I do? This is very frustrating!

      Hi Ms Brooks–

Thanks for contacting us. I’m sorry you’ve been experiencing difficulties. I have shared your comments with our web team lead, who forwarded them to some of the programmers for assistance. He also said he has noticed that the Employee Self Service site has rendering issues on iOS, so they may already be aware of and working on it. I will let you know ASA I hear about any updates on this.
