The National Alliance of Black School Educators (NABSE) recently awarded Red Elementary School Principal Dawn DuBose-Randle the 2015 Principal of the Year Award, which she accepted during the organization’s annual conference in Washington, D.C., in November.

DuBose-Randle, who has served as Red’s principal for the past eight years, said she was “extremely humbled and excited” by the honor.

“My source of passion is leading and mentoring teachers and helping them to bring out the best in each child every day,” she said.

The NABSE Principal of the Year Award is given to a campus leader who has “demonstrated outstanding leadership skills that have led to a greater sense of student, teaching staff, and parental community support,” according to the organization’s website.

DuBose-Randle has worked in education for 23 years and said that she is inspired to do great work by a desire to see her students and staff succeed.

“Just knowing that my school community and I can make a positive difference in the lives of students on a daily basis keeps me going,” she said.

The NABSE, which was founded in 1970, is dedicated to improving the educational experience and recognizing the accomplishments of African American students through instructional and motivational methods that increase inspiration, attendance, and overall achievement.
