Dávila ES’ Mayra Hernandez wins January’s Excellence in Leadership Award
Principal Mayra Hernandez knows the importance of parental involvement when it comes to her students’ success, and her work has earned her January’s Excellence in Leadership Award, presented during Wednesday’s Principals Meeting.
Hernandez is committed to keeping parents involved with STAAR info sessions and attendance conferences while also building morale through partnerships with Navidad en el Barrio (which provides holiday gifts to needy students) and Barrio Dogs (whose canine volunteers listen to second graders read).
Thanks to her efforts, parent volunteers have steadily increased at Dávila Elementary and led to a stronger connection to her school’s community.
Congratulations to my school principal! She is an excellent team leader! I’m proud to be part of your school’s staff. May you keep your outstanding job!
Congratulations, Ms. Hernandez! You do a great job keeping students and teachers at Davila motivated to strive for excellence. Keep up the good work!
A very well deserved award! Students love programs such as the Barrio Dogs, which increases their love for reading. Thank you for taking the initiative in getting volunteers and parents to be active at Davila!
