AP teachers receive College Board scholarships

Nearly a dozen Advanced Placement teachers from throughout HISD recently were awarded scholarships from the College Board to attend a free week-long AP Summer Institute.

AP Summer Institutes are subject-specific professional development opportunities that provide teachers with the support and training needed to teach AP courses and to utilize Pre-AP teaching strategies. Teachers from around the world come together at these institutes to exchange ideas and information about AP courses and exams. 

HISD’s College Board scholarship recipients are:

  • Oyeyemi Aborishad, Chavez High School, AP Computer Science Principles
  • Bridgette Acosta, Milby High School, AP Spanish Literature and Culture,
  • Aaron Harris, Westbury High School, AP World History
  • Nam Kim, Houston Academy for International Studies, AP Calculus
  • Christen Kumar, Westbury High School, AP Calculus
  • Patricia McMorris, Milby High School, AP Statistics
  • Kyle Oheron, Sharpstown International School, AP Calculus
  • Lauren Ortega, Bellaire High School, AP World History
  • Donald Parker, North Houston Early College High School, AP Biology
  • Tisha Riley, Westside High School, AP Calculus
