HISD providing free subscription to ReadyRosie

In an effort to increase the home-school connection, HISD is launching ReadyRosie, a free interactive tool for early childhood teachers to use with parents and guardians who are raising children age 0 to 6.

ReadyRosie provides weekly emails and/or text messages for parents that they can do with their child. Each activity is modeled with a two-minute video. The activities are simple, only take about two minutes each day, and can be done at home, in the car, at the grocery store, restaurants, or public transportation – wherever real life happens.

Every HISD Pre-K teacher has access to a ReadyRosie share account where they can add parents and connect them to the students in their classroom. Click here to learn how to link your account to a student/parent account.  Teachers also have access to a ReadyRosie dashboard they can use to customize activities and videos based on a student’s needs.

In addition, any HISD parent or guardian with a child or children ages 0-6 can register for ReadyRosie at www.readyrosie.com/register. The registration process will ask parents for their child’s elementary school.  If a child is too young to be enrolled in school, parents or guardians can enter the name of their neighborhood HISD elementary school. To find the name of their neighborhood HISD elementary school, parents can go to www.houstonisd.org/findaschool and enter their home address.

The free subscription also allows parents to access the entire ReadyRosie video database and download the ReadyRosie mobile app for their iPhone or Android device.

The districtwide launch of ReadyRosie is part of a $9 million state grant HISD has received to build upon its already successful full-day Pre-K programming. As a recipient of the High-Quality Prekindergarten grant, HISD plans to expand its Pre-K teacher training opportunities, increase teacher qualifications, and develop quality family engagement plans.
