HISD employee wins health and wellness award
The Secondary & Curriculum Development Department celebrates Felicia Ceaser-White, who was recently awarded the 2019 Southern District Ethnic Minority Award from Southern District SHAPE America. The award is given to individuals who have made significant and meaningful contributions in support of ethnic minorities in health and wellness education.
Having served for almost 26 years at HISD, Ceaser-White is currently the manager of health and physical education, which has enabled her to impact thousands of students and teachers during her career. Her passion and pride for the well-being of students has been evident through her commitment, accomplishments, and devotion for all students to receive the necessary skills to be healthy and successful for a lifetime.
In her role, Ceaser-White demonstrates leadership and phenomenal responsibility to her team, students, teachers and the community, with a huge emphasis on service. She has served in many roles in education which includes, a curriculum manager for K-12 health and physical education; a classroom teacher; a coach; a program coordinator; principal investigator for the Center for Disease Control grants; a presenter for state and national conventions such as Texas Association for Health Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (TAHPERD) and SHAPE America; a Special Olympics committee member; a community partner with several health organizations and universities and School Health Advisory Council (SHAC) Co-Chair.
In addition to the many hats she wears, she’s also a certified Texas Parks and Wild Life Department angler, archery, and camping instructor. Felicia will be presenting at this year’s SHAPE America Conference on the topic “Using Collective Impact to Create the Healthiest Generation in Texas.”
