HISD’s “Grow Your Own” Model Summer 2019 Cohort
The Leadership Development Department announces the Assistant Principal Candidate Development Opportunity (APCDO) Summer 2019 Cohort, in partnership with Leadership Recruitment.
Those interested should attend the information session on April 24, beginning at 4:30 p.m., at Hattie Mae White (4400 West 18th St., 77092).
Participants will engage in a series of collaborative learning activities aligned with the Texas Principal Standards that are designed to develop the candidates’ knowledge and skills in the areas of instructional leadership, human capital, executive leadership, school culture, and strategic operations in the context of urban schools.
This fast-paced cohort experience is for qualified assistant principal or dean pipeline candidates, who want to build their instructional leadership capacity in preparation for the role of assistant principal.
Cohort Eligibility
To qualify for the cohort, an applicant must meet the following qualifications:
- current Texas Principal Certificate
- full acceptance to the Houston ISD’s Assistant Principal Pipeline
- recommendation by their current campus principal
- “good standing” with the District
Application Process
To begin the application process for APCDO cohort, candidates should attend either information session on April 17 or April 24, beginning at 4:30 p.m. at Hattie Mae White (4400 West 18th St., 77092), and submit an application via Applitrack from April 17-May 10.
Although participation in APCDO does not guarantee a job, the Leadership Development Department encourages aspiring leaders to seize this opportunity to sharpen their leadership skills and advance their career. Candidates selected for the cohort will be notified by May 20.
