HISD’s new Teacher Appraisal and Development System

The new Teacher Appraisal and Development system is the focus of HISD’s latest “Within Our Walls” (or “WOW!”) video, which was screened for principals on November 2. In it, educators at both Walnut Bend and River Oaks elementary schools describe how they—and their students—are benefitting from having more opportunities to learn from their peers and more chances to receive constructive feedback on their own teaching techniques, as a part of the Effective Teachers Initiative.
