EMERGE recruiting 10th-graders; applications due May 31

Tenth-graders in Houston Independent School District are encouraged to apply for EMERGE, a program that empowers and prepares high-performing students from underserved communities to attend and graduate from top colleges and universities across the nation.

Applications are currently available and are due by May 31.

EMERGE is a nationally recognized program started in Houston ISD that helps first-generation and low-income students. The program is free for all accepted students.

The program has helped hundreds of students receive full scholarships to top colleges such as Yale, Rice, Harvard and Stanford. More importantly, while only about 1 out of 10 low-income students graduate from college, over 95% of EMERGE students have either graduated from college within 4 years or are on track to do so.

Interested students can attend a series of Virtual Recruitment Sessions, which will be held twice a week through May 29. To register, go to calendly.com/emergerecruitment. Applications can be found at webportalapp.com/sp/login/emerge.

If you have any questions about the application, please contact Student Recruiter at Bethany. Okezie@HoustonISD.org.
