Social and Emotional Learning

Please visit the Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Rethink Ed website for the evidence-based online SEL curriculum. Once there, you will find the Rethink Ed training recording (and passcode), SEL video links, training series, and a SEL book list that supports student mental health and emotional wellness. Online student lessons provide a wide variety of SEL topics complete with videos, instructional materials, and activities for every grade level. These lessons provide a comprehensive, teacher-friendly K-12 curriculum that can be integrated into your classroom for individual students of all learning tiers. Please go to HISD’s Clever site and click on the Rethink Ed icon under Teacher Resources.

ELEMENTARY TEACHERS

HB3 Math Academy is launching the first virtual session for the fall, Guided Math: Workstations. There are two opportunities to attend this session on Aug. 31, 2021, one from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. and one from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. For more information, see this flyer.

Elementary Math Best Practice: Implementing math interactive notebooks

The Elementary Math Team is excited to bring you this engaging math session focusing on the benefits of implementing interactive notebooks in the math classroom on Thursday, Sept. 2, 2021. Elementary Math Best Practice: Backward planning to maximize the 5E math block

Please join the elementary math team for an engaging math session on Thursday, Sept. 9, 2021. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of the 5E math block in the math classroom and engage in content aligned to the HISD elementary curriculum. Early Childhood

If you are a new or returning PK teacher this year, you are invited to attend a session on how to enter grades into report cards. “Power Teacher Pro for PK/K teachers” is OneSource Course #1458045. The course takes place Wednesday, Sept. 1 at 3:30 p.m. Participants will learn how to navigate and utilize the features of the gradebook, including TEKS and Standards.

Please review the August 2021 CTE Bulletin, Volume III, which has helpful resources for new and returning CTE teachers, including professional learning opportunities. Explore the Career Readiness website, which also has a wealth of professional development opportunities. You may request one-on-one CTE instructional support, find online resources and TEKS by CTE cluster, view current CTE programs of study, view an approved list of industry-based certifications, and find a brief tutorial on how to enroll in OneSourceMe Learning.
