Sánchez ES advances to silver level of NCUST award process

Sánchez Elementary School has now been named a silver-level winner of the National Excellence in Urban Education Award.
It was named as a finalist by The National Center for Urban School Transformation (NCUST) last December, and is now in contention for the gold award, along with nine other campuses from across the country. The winners of the gold awards will be announced on May 21. Get the full story here.

- Westside High School educator Delia Thibodeaux, who was named one of three finalists for the national Health Education Teacher of the Year award by the Society of Health and Physical Educators (SHAPE America). Get that full story here.
- Garden Oaks Montessori, which made history recently by becoming the first public Montessori school to participate in a regional competition of the Montessori Model United Nations. Get the full story here.
- Challenge Early College High School senior Shaylah Cooper, who was one of only 100 students chosen from across the country to attend this year’s “Disney Dreamers Academy” in Walt Disney World. She was picked from among 10,000 applicants between the ages of 13 and 19 for her attitude, character, and ambition. Read the full story here.
