New ‘Ask Gloria’ blog gives employees chance to ask HR questions

HISD continues to work on improving employee communications, as well as providing the necessary tools and resources to help them do their jobs more effectively.

Those resources now include the “Ask Gloria” blog, a new, regular feature where Chief Human Resources Officer Gloria Cavazos will answer Human Resources-related questions that affect HISD employees.

Employees can submit their questions through the blog, which is securely hosted on the myHISD site. One question or topic will be featured each week, and all previous posts will be searchable, so that employees can find information from previous posts.

    Hello Mrs. Gloria,

    I would like to know if as an Associate Costumer Service (IT) position, am I able to serve as an ancillary teacher? If I am able to serve as an ancillary teacher, should I be off duty and receive the same benefits as the general education teachers (a planning period, duty-free lunch, and off duty at 3:30pm)? If the answer is no, how can I make sure that I am serving as an Associate Costumer Service (IT) and not as an ancillary teacher? Is this something that I should communicate with my administration. I would like to further outline my job responsibilities.

    I have a question when does all the hours that we work come through. I have emailed the person whos in charge of pay roll but i have not seen the change or the collection of the hours that i have worked.
    My start date was Augest 25-28 which I was paid for when pay roll come around but i started Auguest 12 which i noted on the email the start time and end time. But i have not seen where the hours are.

    Question-do bereavement days count against the ASPIRE bonus? I had missed like 9 days, then my Dad died and I missed five more. Does that disqualify me?
