District Change Agent Network being created to provide feedback, support, and regular communications

HISD is in the midst of a large scale, districtwide project that will improve our existing SAP finance and logistics system and migrate current HR and payroll functions from PeopleSoft to SAP. The end goal is to provide a seamless integration between HR, Payroll, and Finance & Logistics which in turn will provide:

  • An improved user experience
  • Employee Self Service and Manager Self Service (ESS/MSS)
  • A single repository for employee and department information
  • Better budget control
  • A simplified procurement process

A cross-functional team made up of various departments including Finance, Human Resources, Operations, Information Technology, Procurement, and many others have been collaborating for more than a year to develop a comprehensive and robust implementation plan. The plan is now in the “realization phase” with a go-live date for July 1, 2016, for both the upgrade and migration components of the project.

How will this affect me?
A big part of the implementation plan includes training for employees on all the changes, new processes, and functionality this project will bring across the district. Some employees will be affected more than others and thus will receive more robust and hands-on instruction. Training will not begin until the spring of 2016, but we are currently asking a select group of employees to become part of a districtwide, cross-functional team that will provide feedback to district leaders and provide regular communication updates to their co-workers regarding the project. We are calling this group the SAP Change Agent Network.

What is Change Agent Network and who will be on it?
A change agent network is a group of extended team members who can help guide a company, or in our case a school district, through a major change and make it a better experience for employees by providing authentic feedback to leaders in charge of the project and regular communication updates to colleagues and co-workers. HISD’s Change Agent Network will be made up of at least one employee from every district campus and every department.

How are change agents being selected?
Department managers and principals are being asked to submit the name of one or more employees to serve on the Change Agent Network.  If you are interested in serving, please contact your principal, manager, or supervisor.
