Late surge pushes Combined Charities past $300,000 for third consecutive year
Thanks to a big surge during the final week, Team HISD contributed $329,831 toward the 2016 Combined Charities Campaign, topping $300,000 for the third consecutive year. During the past three years, the fundraising event has donated nearly $1 million to local, state, and national organizations.
“The work Team HISD does on a daily basis shows how much we care about our students,” said Combined Charities Coordinator Tanya Mackey. “But when we see the impressive donation totals each year, it also shows that we as a district care about making the world a better place. All the organizations are worthy causes, and our employees recognize the value of the work they do.”
The top fundraising departments and campuses were honored during a luncheon Thursday, Nov. 12, featuring the Yates High School cheerleaders and additional “Game On” spirit by Houston Texans cheerleaders.
