April is Autism Awareness Month, and the Office of Special Education is asking Team HISD to join the campaign by going “blue.”

Light It Up Blue is the annual kick-off event for Autism Awareness Month, and members of the community are encouraged to wear blue on Friday, April 1, to help spread the word.

In addition to clothing, Team HISD can also light up their homes, campuses, and offices with the color blue.

HISD will observe the month in different ways across the district, including adding blue accents to the Special Education Field Office (SFO).

In addition, the Office of Special Education will begin the celebration by hosting an autism parent meeting from 9-11 a.m. Friday at the SFO, 4040 W. Fuqua St., in room 204.

Parents and campuses can also find additional autism resources by clicking here or by following @HISDSPED on Twitter for more autism information.
