Teachers explore robots, drones, and coding at Summer STEM Institute

Hundreds of teachers spent the week of Aug. 1 getting up close and personal with new and innovative techniques and tools to teach STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) in their classrooms this coming school year.

K-8 teachers from more than 30 schools attended the HISD STEM Institute at Herrera Elementary. While there teachers got hands-on training with robotics, drone technology, computer coding, and engineering design.

‘”I think the STEM team is really amazing and what they are doing is giving us teachers the tools we need to go back into our classrooms and teach science, technology, engineering, and math, “ said Christopher Warren, a teacher at Fleming Middle School. “This overall experience has given us a lot to work with.”
