Comments Off on Employees must ‘Checkin2Work’ starting August 23
by HISD Communications

HISD is continuing its partnership with Axiom Medical to support employees for the start of the 2021-2022 school year.

Axiom Medical has nurses on staff available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, as well as a chief medical officer. The Axiom Medical health screening app will help employees determine whether it is safe for them to come into work.

Effective Monday, August 23, all employees must use Axiom Medical’s Checkin2work (CI2W) app to log in and complete a daily self-attestation before arriving at work. The daily self-attestation consists of answering COVID-19-related questions. Employees without internet access should call HISD’s Health and Medical Services at (713) 556-7280 to complete the daily self-attestation.

In addition to this communication, new employees will be receiving a welcome email from Axiom with more information on how to download the app and accept the terms of use. Please do not attempt to use the app for checking into work before Monday, August 23. Contact your supervisor if you do not receive the email or have issues downloading the app. Please ensure you can access the app before the required use on Monday, August 23.

Employees who had installed the Checkin2work app, will be able to continue using it as of Monday, August 23rd. Employees who might have deleted the app, can simply reinstall it for use on Monday.

Based on answers to certain questions, the app will either provide the clearance for work or a referral to medical personnel for further review.

If an employee answers “yes” to a question, they will be instructed to call Axiom at (281) 419-7063 to speak to a nurse or a nurse will call the employee back. Employee contact tracing will be handled by Axiom.

Employees who are not cleared will be asked to call their administrator or supervisor.

Employees should answer “no” unless they have a recent onset of symptoms or exposure to COVID-19.

Visit http://www.checkin2work.com to set up your account and get started. Watch a helpful training video here. You can also download the Checkln2Work app on your Android or iOS device.

Log on to Checkln2Work using your work account username and password.

For assistance with your sign-up, please contact your supervisor or email support@checkin2work.com

If you have any questions, please contact your supervisor.

ALL TEACHERS

Social and Emotional Learning Introduction
The Social Emotional and Learning (SEL) department coordinates the implementation and growth of culturally responsive and emotionally safe learning environments. Throughout this school year, we will be sharing SEL resources that will help you establish supportive relationships with your students. This week please consider doing some self-care exercises for yourselves and your students during the day. This could include such things as taking a few deep breaths, listening to a calming song, or reading an inspirational poem. Check in with other teachers to see how they are doing. Have a great week with your students and a great year! And remember, YOU ARE AWESOME!

ELEMENTARY TEACHERS

Early Childhood

Welcome back, prekindergarten teachers! Please be aware of the following change when accessing the CIRCLE Assessment this school year. HISD has launched a new procedure to access the CLI Engage platform using CLEVER to administer the CIRCLE Assessment for this school year. On June 11, 2021, all PK teachers received an invitation email from CLI Engage to login using CLEVER. If you were able to successfully login through CLEVER, you will be able to access the CIRCLE Assessment when the first wave begins on Sept. 20. If you did NOT successfully login through CLEVER, please look for a CLI Engage invitation email this week. Remember you only have 14 days to access this invitation email (if you don’t see it in your HISD email, look in your junk folder). Please see the attached instructions to successfully register for the first time. Once you are registered, follow the step-by-step directions at this video link to login to the CLI Engage platform through Clever. As always, you can reach Claudia Azcarate at Claudia.azcarate@houstonisd.org or Maria Navarro at mnavarr8@houstonisd.org with questions regarding CLI Engage access.

SECONDARY TEACHERS

The Texas Association of School Bus Technicians (TASBT) held its annual School Bus Technician Texas’ Best competition, and HISD Fleet Operations personnel from different motor pools received honors in two divisions of competition.

The competition measures competencies among peer technicians and inspectors.

“I couldn’t be more proud of the extraordinary individuals we have in our district and department,” said Maintenance and Operations General Manager Nicole Ware Barnett. “This competition shows how skilled and dedicated they are to the safety of our students and our community.”

In the Technicians Division, Mechanic Expert John Cain Jr. and Team Lead Eric Ramirez won first and third place, respectively. They work at Barnett Stadium.

The technician competition is a test of skills and knowledge through a combination of rigorous tests.

In the Inspectors Division, Shared Services Mechanic Expert Arturo Perez took fourth place, while the Central motor pool mechanics Carlos Hernandez and Ruben Gonzales took eighth and ninth place, respectively.

This competition involves a test for student safety in transportation, including a written exam and hands-on event, and inspection of the bus interior, under the hood, and under the chassis.

Each staff member was presented with their TASBT competition certificate that ranked their placement among their peers.

Employee Self-Assessment Appraisal for 12-month employees

2021 July 20
Comments Off on Employee Self-Assessment Appraisal for 12-month employees
by HISD Communications

The optional Employee Self-Assessment (ESA) appraisal window for 12-month employees is open from July 19 – 30, 2021.

If the employee submits an ESA, the system will immediately open to the appraiser to enter the end of the year appraisal ratings, conference, and signatures.

If no ESA is submitted by the end of the window (July 30), the system will close the window and move the documents to the appraiser for the end of the year appraisal ratings, conference, and signatures.

The required end of the year assessment is to be completed by August 20, 2021.

The Employee Self-Assessment (ESA) is optional but is an opportunity for the employee to:

  • provide valuable comments to the appraiser about their 2020/2021 accomplishments and areas of improvement,
  • provide their opinion on how they think they should be rated in any, none, or all department goals and competencies,
  • provide attachments showcasing their created documents, files, or other supportive documentation. (Use the paperclip in the upper right corner of the document to attach evidence.)

Download a guide on the Employee Self-Assessment

For further assistance, join an open lab via Microsoft Teams from 11 a.m.-noon every Tuesday-Thursday.
