All HISD juniors are being enrolled for free to take the SAT college entrance exam during the school day on their campuses on April 16 – and they also qualify for two prep courses at no cost. But time is tight to take advantage of the chance to take practice tests and customized instruction to help boost their scores.

Students can take the Official SAT Online Course, a $69.95 value, as part of their SAT registration, which is done through their school. Materials include interactive lessons and official practice tests.

And HISD has acquired Prep Me!, a $500 SAT prep course, available through students’ Naviance Family Connection accounts. HISD students in the EMERGE college prep program saw measurable improvement in their SAT performance after taking Prep Me! The course has a diagnostic test for each section of the SAT, to pinpoint a student’s strengths and weaknesses, and focuses on content mastery, rather than teaching tricks or shortcuts.
