Members of Team HISD who typically work behind the camera are receiving a moment in the spotlight themselves.
The HISD video team has been honored with four awards — two silver and two bronze — in the 36th annual Telly Awards.
Silver awards went to HISD for “Literacy by 3,” which depicts the development of the district’s flagship literacy program and “Edgar’s Story,” which shows how the district’s EMERGE program helped a high-potential/low-income student get to Yale. Silver is the highest award possible in the Tellys, as there is no gold.
Bronze awards were bestowed on the district for both “We are HISD,” a summary of the school district’s quest to serve all of its students equally well, and “2961,” an exploration of how the district is helping the 2,961 freshmen who failed three or more classes in the past year.
The Telly Award winners were selected from entries submitted by ad agencies, production companies, TV stations, cable companies, and interactive corporations from all over the world.
