Board of Education receives community input on next superintendent

The independent search firm conducting the search for HISD’s next superintendent has finished gathering community input that the Board of Education will now use to help identify the most important candidate qualities.

Hazard, Young, Attea and Associates gathered input from 3,269 individuals, including school board members, principals, teachers/staff, and the community through interviews, community forums and surveys. That input was used to create a Leadership Profile Report, which was presented to the Board of Education during Thursday’s regular meeting. The Board will now use the report to help guide the search for a new leader for the nation’s seventh-largest school district.

“Community input is a vital part of the Board of Education’s search for the best candidate to serve our students,” said HISD Board President Manuel Rodríguez Jr. “We are grateful that so many stakeholders took time to share their thoughts on the leadership traits they value most.”
