Six star players with the Houston Texans, along with mascot Toro, surprised Blackshear Elementary School third-graders on Tuesday with a playoff pizza party.
Just five days before a divisional playoff game against the Kansas City Chiefs, the Texans hosted the playoff celebration with safety Justin Reid, wide receiver DeAndre Carter, running backs Buddy Howell and Taiwan Jones, linebackers Tyrell Adams and Peter Kalambayi, who all enjoyed pizza and cookies with the students.
“We can’t thank the Texans enough for the pizza party,” Principal Alicia Lewis said. “Their continued commitment to the community is one of the reasons the Chiefs will be defeated on Sunday.”
After the pizza party, students participated in a Texans Trivia contest, winning T-shirts for each correct answer, and then competed in a backwards foot race with Reid. The party was sponsored by Texans Care, the Houston Texans Foundation. The Texans are set to take on the Chiefs this Sunday, January 12 at 3:25 p.m.
