Due to the threat of inclement weather in the Houston area, and to ensure the safety of staff, all HISD facilities and offices will be closed Wednesday, August 26, and Thursday, August 27. District facilities are scheduled to reopen on Friday, August 28, pending road and weather conditions.
Employees will be required to report to work remotely on Friday, August 28. However, essential employees who are required to physically report to work on Wednesday and Thursday will be contacted by their supervisors. Virtual Professional Development sessions and preservice training will be rescheduled. Virtual Camp Spark sessions will continue as scheduled.
Additionally, food distribution in partnership with the Houston Food Bank at NRG Stadium originally scheduled for Friday, August 28 has been rescheduled to Saturday, August 29 from noon to 5 p.m. Food deliveries at apartment complexes as well as curbside pickup – both scheduled for Thursday, August 27 and Friday, August 28 – have also been canceled.
