Houston ISD has become a champion in the National Cyber Security Alliance’s National Cyber Security Awareness Month coming up in October.
National Cyber Security Awareness Month was created 11 years ago to be sure people have the resources needed to stay safe online. Champions this year include top universities, government agencies and large corporations. Houston ISD is proud to be one of the first school districts to join the effort.
This week, the district unveiled its new cybersafety website, designed to educate students, parents and educators about digital citizenship. The site features information about social media apps, cyberbullying, sexting, safe gaming, plagiarism and more.
Students at 32 high schools will receive laptops this year as part of PowerUp, a districtwide initiative aimed at transforming teaching and learning. Students at all high schools will receive laptops by 2015-2016.
