The Houston Independent School District is holding two school choice fairs for North Forest students and their parents.
Earlier this year, the Texas Education Agency ordered North Forest ISD to be closed and annexed by HISD effective July 1. North Forest has approximately 7,000 students, and those students will become HISD students.
HISD has many magnet, charter, multilingual, International Baccalaureate, Vanguard, early college, college prep schools and career academies that students can choose to attend. To help students pick the best school for them, HISD is hosting two school choice fairs that will be held at the Northeast Multi-Service Center, 9720 Spaulding, in Houston. The fair for incoming pre-Kindergarten through fifth-grade students will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 28, and the fair for students in grades 6 through 12 will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 30.
HISD is committed to making the transition for students and their families as smooth as possible. A Tele-Town Hall conference will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 29, for you to call in and speak with HISD administrators about the upcoming changes.
