HISD employees eligible for COVID-19 vaccination stipend

Participation is voluntary, and proof of vaccination or exemption must be uploaded to OneSource

The Texas Education Agency (TEA) has approved HISD’s request to pay a one-time stipend of $500 to district employees who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

Participation in the vaccine stipend is entirely voluntary. Employees who choose to participate in the COVID-19 vaccination stipend will need to upload proof of vaccination or medical exemption issued by a U.S. physician to OneSource.

All employees who have been vaccinated must scan the front and back of their vaccination card and save it as a JPEG or PDF file. Employees can then log into Employee Self Service in OneSource, click on the COVID Vaccine Form, select/upload their file, complete the form, select “Check” for errors, and finally, click “Send.” Employees will receive a notification that their request has been submitted and an additional notification once their request has been approved or rejected. 

Religious exemptions must be submitted to ADA@houstonisd.org and will be reviewed by HISD’s religious accommodation committee. If approved, the employee will submit the approval notification in Employee Self Service as described above. If you have questions, please email HealthMS@houstonisd.org or call Employee Services at 713-556-7400.

Employees must submit their proof of vaccination, medical exemption, or granted religious exemption documentation by Nov. 19, 2021, and payment of the $500 Vaccination Stipend will be made on Dec. 22, 2021.

The one-time $500 stipend is being paid through the district’s ESSER funds.

Helpful Tips: 

  • If you have misplaced your vaccine card: Contact your medical service provider and request a printout of your immunization records. Your COVID-19 vaccine information should be listed there. 
  • If you made a mistake uploading your card: You will be able to resubmit your documentation once you receive a rejection notification. 
  • If you receive a rejection notification: You will be able to resubmit your documentation in OneSource.
