In an effort to showcase some of  HISD’s outstanding high school students, KHOU Channel 11 has launched a new weekly segment called  Our Future, which airs every Thursday during the station’s 5 p.m. newscast.  The purpose of the segment is to identify and profile young student leaders who can serve as an inspiration and role models for others.

Recently featured were Sandra Aldavera from Milby High School and Liliana Guzman from Challenge Early College High School.

To be considered for this segment, students must demonstrate great personal initiative, not just in the classroom, but also in their communities.  In addition, the student must excel academically and possess great character and dedication to worthy causes and activities.

To nominate a student from your school, please contact Denisse Cantu at jcantu3@houstonisd.org.  Each HISD high school will be allowed to nominate up to three students each month.

In addition, Univision 45 is now airing a new segment every Monday morning called Lo Ultimo en HISD. The newscast features students from a different HISD elementary school each week covering current events from their campus and from throughout the district.
