Students at HISD’s Walnut Bend Elementary School are benefitting from community partners in a big way this year.

In an article that appeared on the Houston Chronicle’s website Oct. 15, Principal Susan Shenker described how more than half a dozen caring organizations have been making a big difference in children’s lives at this west Houston campus, by supplying everything from mentors and big brothers/sisters to backpacks stuffed with school supplies and gift cards for uniforms.

Find out what positive effects Shenker has noticed as a result by visiting the Chronicle’s website.
