HISD’s biweekly radio show this Wednesday, Oct. 30, on KCOH (1230 AM) will highlight the district’s efforts to build and renovate 40 schools and provide contract opportunities to small and minority-owned businesses for projects under the 2012 bond program.
The 30-minute segment on KCOH will air at 11:30 a.m. The urban news/talk station broadcasts HISD news every other week.
The segment will feature a live interview with the district’s Office of Business Assistance General Manager Alexis Licata, and General Manager of Facilities Design Dan Bankhead. They will provide an update on the design and planning process for the schools being built within the bond program and will offer tips for minority- and women-owned businesses on responding to contract proposals and improving their building capacity. During the segment, listeners will be able to call in and ask questions.
“KCOH is a storied institution here in Houston,” Bankhead said. “Many of our HISD stakeholders — students, parents, community members — are longtime listeners. It’s a great way for us to spread the word about the schools and programs available to these listeners, as well as the community at large. We believe an informed community is a supportive community. This is just another way for us to reach out.”
