Eligible HISD high school students will have the opportunity to win iPads, Google Chromebooks, gift cards and more – including a car — at the annual Cool To Be Smart event hosted by the district’s College Readiness department.
As in past years, eligible seniors will be in the running to win a new car—a 2013 Ford Fiesta Sedan Special Edition, valued at $17,735. New this year, eligible sophomores and juniors will be invited and can participate in games to win prizes.
“We want to recognize students for their hard work and dedication by having an event where they can play games, enjoy entertainment, win prizes, and more,” said Assistant Superintendent of College Readiness Rick Cruz.
Who is eligible to attend Cool To Be Smart? Sophomores who have taken two or more AP, IB or Dual Credit courses, juniors who have taken three or more AP, IB or Dual Credit courses, and seniors who have taken five or more AP, IB or Dual Credit courses.
Students must be present to win and need to provide a photo I.D. Due to limited seating, the event is open to qualified students only.
New this year, some schools will offer transportation from school stops to the location of the event. For additional information, students should see their school’s counselor.
