This annual education outreach program honors high school students who are learning Mandarin Chinese and gives them a place to demonstrate their language skills. It also provides them with an opportunity to mingle with their peers from other Houston area schools and meet Chinese-speaking professionals, who act as table hosts.
Grady, an IB World School, which has been offering Mandarin Chinese for three years, was the only middle school to participate in this year’s event. Their performance, a song usually sung at graduation, was warmly received and applauded by the audience.
