I would like to nominate Nurse Regan from Garden Villas Elementary school, for “Nurse
Of the Year.” She goes above and beyond the call of duty. She genuinely cares about each and every child. My daughter has attended this school since Pre-K, and ever since, I have witnessed first hand, just how thoughtful and generous she is. I have an especially touching moment that will always stand out in my mind: One day, my daughter was in Nurse Regan’s office at the end of the school day. While in her office I noticed a very small, young boy. He asked Nurse Regan if she had some food. I thought he was just casuallly trying to charm her into giving him an after-school treat. Boy, was I wrong! The next thing I knew, this tiny boy, no more than 4 yrs old was carrying a huge bag full of food out of the door, so his whole family could eat dinner that night! I later learned that Nurse Regan, herself, supplies bags of food for needy children and their families every night so they can have a meal on the table and not go hungry. I was moved to tears, and will always remember it for my lifetime. Nurse Regan is one of the few people that exude such heartfelt devotion and consideration for others. Sincerely, Rachel Holcombe
