Want to get paid for learning something you’re already interested in? If you’re an HISD sophomore or junior who likes engineering and science, have we got a deal for you!
The district is funding 12 paid internships at Rice University this summer for current 10th- and 11th-grade HISD students. The program, which is sponsored by the Rice Office of STEM Engagement (R-STEM), is designed for students with an interest in chemistry, biology, physics, bioengineering, chemical engineering, environmental engineering, or electrical engineering.
In addition to the invaluable experience they will receive during the internship, participants will also be paid $10 an hour. The six-week program will take place on the Rice campus from June 8 to July 17, 2015. Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Interested students should apply here. The first step is to download the Participant Agreement Form (.pdf) and complete it, as students will be required to upload a scanned copy of the completed participant agreement form on the last step of the application process. The process includes uploading all required documents by the deadline, which is May 4, 2015.
