The HISD Board of Education is searching for a new superintendent, and trustees have been gathering feedback all week from community members about the qualities and traits they would like to see in a new district leader.

Board members will host a community meeting at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 27, at the Hattie Mae White Educational Support Center (4400 W. 18th St., 77092), and all interested stakeholders are encouraged to attend.

Feedback obtained from this and other meetings — as well as a new survey created with the help of search firm Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates — will be used by trustees to develop a superintendent candidate profile.

Dr. Terry Grier’s last day as superintendent is Monday, Feb. 29. Board members selected Deputy Superintendent and Chief Financial Officer Ken Huewitt to serve as interim superintendent while they search for a permanent replacement.
