David Knittle has been selected as the new principal of Burbank Middle School.
A member of Team HISD for nearly 20 years, Knittle began his teaching career at Lee High School in 1997. For ten of those years, he served as an English as a Second Language (ESL) and Spanish teacher at Lee’s Newcomer Academy for recent immigrants.
Knittle became an assistant principal at Burbank Middle School in 2005, where he served as the instructional leader of Burbank’s unique dual-language and ESL program, as well as in the areas of Special Education, writing, social studies, and science.
Knittle has also served as a dean of students and a two-time interim principal. He has been a part of Burbank’s long-running success as a Texas Education Agency “Recognized” and “Met Standard With Distinction” campus and continues to promote high standards.
Knittle has a bachelor’s degree in Spanish and a master’s degree in educational leadership from the University of St. Thomas.
