Across the district, thousands of teachers returned to their campuses Monday to begin preparations for the 2016-2017 school year.

Principals got the chance to show off their creative side, as they welcomed their campus staff back with a wide range of themes and events.

For example, Katherine Smith Elementary School Principal Dr. Queinnise Miller hosted a “royal” celebration for her teachers and staff, which included presentations by Trustee Rhonda Skillern-Jones and motivational speaker Tommy Jones.

Check out the other creative ways with which HISD campuses welcomed back their teachers as they get ready for the new year.
