HISD Community Partnerships is joining local organizations to spread holiday cheer, food, and supplies in a drive-through distribution event. From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 11, in the Hattie Mae White east parking lot, families in the community are welcome to pick up a variety of items.
Turkeys, Houston Food Bank “Share the Holiday” food boxes, STEM kits, books, and household supplies will be available for the first 1,000 HISD families that attend. The event is made possible by partnerships with the Children’s Museum of Houston, Honeywell, Houston Food Bank, Top Ladies of Distinction/Top Teens Houston Chapter, Books Between Kids, and United Airlines.
During this school year, HISD campuses have hosted other events to support families. Navarro Middle School held a coat distribution day with over 120 students and community members receiving winter coats and Thanksgiving turkeys. Reynolds Elementary also held a supply drive, and Coop Elementary partnered with Brighter Bites. Each of these events share a special purpose, which is to help families in need this holiday season.
