North Houston Early College High School was named a 2021 National Blue Ribbon School by the United States Department of Education during a ceremony Dec. 3.
The National Blue Ribbon program recognizes public and private schools for their overall academic excellence or progress in closing achievement gaps among student subgroups. North Houston Early College was recognized for academic excellence as measured by state assessments.
“HISD leads with the philosophy of educating the whole child and meeting our students where they are at to help achieve academic excellence,” Superintendent Millard House said. “I am thankful to all of our educators for continuously putting students first and celebrate North Houston for winning this prestigious award.”
The coveted award affirms the hard work of educators, students, families, and communities in creating safe and welcoming schools where students master challenging and engaging content.
“As a Title I school, winning a National Blue Ribbon Award highlights how impactful it can be when teachers, students, and supportive parents come together to achieve outstanding results, ”principal Samantha Brooks said. “I thank all of them for creating a wonderful learning environment that has allowed us to receive this honor.”
